Snowmageddon 2019

Snowmageddon 2019

Thanksgiving weekend brought a HUGE snowstorm to the North Shore are. We were there to witness it! We were staying at Larsmont Cottages in Two Harbors, MN. We planned to stay from Thursday until Sunday. The Gales of November started crashing in on Saturday. They were predicting 12-16ft waves! The snow was predicted to be 12-24″ with wind gusts up to 40mph! WOW! The snow and winds whipped throughout he night Saturday night. Sunday we woke up early to asses the situation. Duluth airport reported 20″ of snow! Parts of Hwy 61 were closed as were parts of 35S. We decided to keep our family safe and stay another night. Oh darn another night to enjoy Larsmont. They house we rented was open and the resort was kind enough to offer guests 30% off to stay another night in the storm. The extra night ended up being our favorite of vacation. I am an over packer, as are my in-laws so we had plenty of food and activities. We played cribbage, put a puzzle together, ate way too much food and just enjoyed each other’s conversation. What a memory to have for Thanksgiving 2019.

On the next blog post I am going to dive into our favorite place to stay, Larsmont Cottages. This place deserves a post all of it’s own. The place is nothing short of amazing!!! It is a luxurious resort that does offer ways to enjoy it on a budget. More on that in the post! Stay tuned!
