Glensheen Mansion

Glensheen Mansion

Want to visit the Glensheen Mansion for free? Hang on, more info on that in this post.

The Glensheen Mansion is a 39 room mansion boasting 27,000 square feet on a 12 acre estate on Lake Superior. The mansion was built over 3 years from 1905-1908. Back then it cost the Congdon family $854,000 to build. It is estimated that if it was built today it would cost around $21 million dollars.

My family and I have toured the Glensheen several times. The wonderful part is every time you take a tour, you see something new and find out more unique information. It truly is amazing! The craftsmanship of the mansion is remarkable today, so to imagine it in it’s time, is mind blowing. There are several tours available, so check them all out here http://glensheen.org to find out what tour best suits you.

Back to the touring for FREE part. Well on Sunday January 5th you can do just that! They are offering a complimentary Community Day to thank people for their support throughout the year! The tours begin at 9am Sunday and the last tour entry is at 5pm. No reservations required but you do need to stop at the ticket house upon arrival. What a great offer! Take advantage of this great deal! More info can be found on their Facebook event page. https://www.facebook.com/events/609488513193751/

If you can’t make it for the free community day there are still ways to save! If you have a Happenings Book they have a coupon in there for a buy one get one Classic Tour! That is a great deal! The Happenings Book allows you to have an online membership with the first month free. So if you have a trip planned you could do your free trial month and save! Be sure to visit Glensheen on your next trip! They always allow you to tour the outside grounds at no cost.

Glensheen Boathouse

When we were there my son loved being outside, touring the grounds. The image above is him by the boathouse at the Glensheen.

Cheers to adventures!
